The Hills are Alive.

Edit 29. Apricity Coffee, Emerald

For Michaela Fullagar, coffee was always part of her day, what she never imagined was that it would one day become her small business. A long‑time Hills local, Michaela spent the past 16 years devoted to raising her three children. She’d often toyed with the idea of doing something with coffee, but never expected she’d find herself behind a machine, pouring the cups of black gold Melburnians seek out daily.

A life‑altering event in 2023 changed everything, Michaela found herself open to anything that might help her find her footing again. Then came a simple comment from her husband, Rob “Why don’t you buy a coffee van?” the spark that set everything in motion. Scrolling through Marketplace, Michaela stumbled across a van, and by late 2023, she was the proud owner of @apricity_coffee. “Amazing things come from adversity and having a dream. Often things in life happen for a reason,” she reflects.

Her love for the Hills is at the heart of her business and when asked what she loves about the Dandenong Ranges she explains “It’s probably said all the time. But truly… it’s community. I love that we all know each other. It’s not six degrees of separation up here it’s maybe three. I thrive in nature. I need trees, fresh air and ‘Apricity’ (the sun’s warmth in winter), but really any time of year. I love looking out the van windows and seeing happy people having a coffee and a natter out in nature.”

Apricity Coffee has quickly become a regular favourite at the @thelostwoodsmarket, serving up delicious barista made coffee made with beans from @thebeancartel and milk from @gippslandjerseypakenham When asked what she hopes people feel when they visit Apricity, Michaela’s answer is exactly what any customer hopes to hear “I’d love people to know we are grateful for them. Good customer service is hard to come by, I’d like them to feel like they’re buying more than a coffee. It’s the whole experience; we’re always super fun and friendly and absolutely love what we do.”
