The Hills are alive….
Edit 7. Alkira Glamping, Emerald.
Tucked away among gumtrees and ferns, bordered by the gentle flow of Menzies Creek, hides Alkira Eco-Glamping Retreat - one of Airbnb’s most “wishlisted” stays in Australia. But at the heart of Alkira is Emily and her partner Andrew, whose story is one of vision, work ethic, travel and love for the hills.
It was Emily’s passion for travel that sparked the idea - memories of places that truly “take you away,” offering peace and escape from the mundane and every day. Together, she and Andrew have poured themselves into creating distinct and unique accommodation that reflect this spirit, each detail carefully considered, each environment shaped with intention.
Born and raised in Emerald, both Emily and Andrew carry a deep love for the Dandenong Ranges. Their connection to place runs through everything they do - not only at Alkira, but also in @thelostwoodsmarket - the monthly makers market Emily co-founded, breathing new life into a once-sleepy hills town.
For Emily, hospitality runs deep. Growing up around B&Bs, she learned early the art of welcoming and the joy of creating spaces where people feel at home. Together with Andrew, she brings a gentle warmth to every guest’s experience - whether teaching someone to light the outdoor fire or strolling alongside them to feed the cows, horses, alpacas, and lambs. Their tireless commitment is evident in the immaculate presentation of Alkira, and in the quiet pride they take in sharing the hills they call home.
Take a look and immerse yourself in the beauty of @alkiraglamping and everything Emily and Andrew have to offer.
